What investments where the most popular among investors in 2020?

The Golden Visa Program in Portugal offers investors eight investment options. A program participant can buy real estate, transfer money to a bank deposit, purchase shares of a venture fund, invest in scientific research or cultural projects, open a business or invest in existing companies.

The purchase of real estate is traditionally the most popular among investors. In 2020, 91% of investors took advantage of real estate options. Real estate transactions have brought the country in 2020 about 588 million euros.

Invest €500,000 in New Real Estate
( In major cities like Lisbon, valid for investments made till July 2021, from July 2021 investments will rise to € 1,000,000 )

Invest €400,000 in New Real Estate located in a low-density area

Invest €350,000 in Real Estate (The purchase of real estate in Portuguese urban regeneration areas or that is at least 30 years old in major cities like Lisbon)

Invest €280,000 in Real Estate located in a low-density area. The purchase of real estate in Portuguese urban regeneration areas or that is at least 30 years old. ( Valid for investments made till July 2021, from July 2021 investments will rise to €350,000 )

Future of Golden Visa Program in 2021

In the first half of 2021 the demand for the program will grow. The terms of the program will change on July 1, 2021. Under the new regulations, investors will not be able to buy real estate in major cities like Lisbon and Porto € 500,000 and minimum investments will be changed from € 280,000 to € 350,000.
